Utah continues to enjoy the benefit of having one of the lowest unemployment rates in the country. Back in September of 2012 the unemployment rate continued to drop as seen in this Deseret News article, "Utah’s unemployment rate dropped to 5.4 percent in September, down from 5.8 percent in August according to statistics released by the Bureau of Labor Statistics Thursday. The drop is more than a full percentage point from a year ago, the latest indicator of continued economic strength in the state."
Now Utah's unemployment rate is even lower. Utah's latest January 2014 unemployment rate is 3.9 % as noted on Utah's Monthly Employment Situation Report. If you are a small business owner, even while Utah enjoys such low unemployment rate, its important to remember there are steps which must be taken in order to avoid unnecessary complications with taxes, audits, workplace injury and unemployment insurance.
